  • It is mandatory for every registered Yatri to collect his / her RFID Card from designated locations in Jammu / Srinagar before embarking on the Yatra.
  • Carry your Aadhaar details for collecting RFID Cards
  • Wear your RFID tag on your neck at all times during Yatra for safety & security.
  • 62 days long Shri Amarnath ji Yatra will commence on 1st July 2023 and will culminate on 31st August 2023.

  • Health Advisory to avoid Hypothermia at Shri Amarnathji yatra
  • Please walk 4-5 Km daily, consult your doctor, exercise deep breathing and drink plenty of water etc. to prepare yourself for the Yatra.
  • Please do not undertake your Yatra without proper shoes and woollens clothes and always carry Identity Card, registration Permit, raincoat, Umbrella etc.
  • Persons aged more than 70 years and less than 13 years and women with 6 weeks pregnancy are not allowed to undertake pilgrimage.
  • Please consult your doctor again before embarking your journey and do not forget to carry your Registration Permit.
  • Network connectivity in Yatra area is provided by BSNL, JIO & AIRTEL Pre-paid or Pre-on Post BSNL & JIO Sim cards can be purchased at various locations including base camps.
  • The Access Control Gates at Domel and Chandanwari remain open only from 5 AM to 11AM and the onward movement from Panjtarni to Holy Cave is not allowed after 3 PM.
  • Please walk slowly while ascending, relax at regular intervals and descend immediately to lower elevation in case of any symptom of sickness, discomfort during the Yatra.
  • Please keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable water proof bag to avoid your belongings getting wet
  • Women Yatris must avoid wearing Saree during trekking and should wear Salwar Kameez, Pant-Shirt or Track suit.
  • Please do not commence journey on an empty stomach. Please do not overexert during the Yatra beyond your normal capacity.
  • During Yatra, please travel in group with porters/horses/ponies and ensure they remain in your sight. Please help your fellow Yatris on the tracks
  • Please do not attempt any shortcuts, walk only on the track and never stop at places which are marked by warning notice.
  • Please get police assistance and announcement made on Public Address system in case any member of your group found missing.
  • Free food facility is available in the entire Yatra area at the langars. Please consume plenty of carbohydrates and follow prescribed food menu.
  • The Holy Cave is located at 14000 feet, please do take precautions in view of high altitude sickness and avoid overnight stay at Holy Cave. Please do not ignore the symptoms of high altitude sickness.
  • Please do not drink alcohol, caffeinated drink or smoke. Please do not throw used plastic bottles and other garbage in open.
  • Earth, water, air, fire and sky are integral parts of lord Shiva. Please respect the environment and do nothing whatsoever to pollute the Yatra area.
  • Please perform Yatra with a pious mind and do not throw coins, notes, chunni etc. at the Holy Lingam.
  • In case of emergency, please contact nearest Camp Director/ MRT or Control Room on +91-194-2313146, 2313147, 2313148 and 2313149.
  • Yatris are advised to start their journey early in the morning and cross Jawahar Tunnel before 3.00 PM.

    Do's for the Yatris
    • It is mandatory for every registered Yatri to collect his / her RFID Card from designated locations in Jammu / Srinagar before embarking on the Yatra. Click Here For List
    • Carry your Aadhaar details for collecting RFID Cards
    • Wear your RFID tag on your neck at all times during Yatra for safety & security.
    • Do carry sufficient woolen clothing as the temperature may sometimes abruptly fall to below 5 degree Celsius.
    • Do carry umbrella, wind cheater, raincoat, and waterproof shoes as the weather in the Yatra area is unpredictable.
    • Do keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable water proof bag to avoid your belongings getting wet.
    • Do keep in your pocket a note containing the name / address, mobile telephone number of any Yatri proceeding for Darshan on the same date as you are doing, for emergency purposes.
    • Do carry your identity card / driving license and Yatra permit with you.
    Don'ts for the Yatris
    • No registered yatri shall be allowed to emabark on Yatra without RFID card.
    • Don’t ignore the symptoms of high altitude illness.
    • Don’t drink alcohol, caffeinated drink, or smoke.
    • Don’t stop at places which are marked by warning notices.
    • Don’t use slippers because there are steep rises and falls on the route to the Holy Cave. Only wear trekking shoes with laces.
    • Don’t attempt any short cuts on the route as doing so would be dangerous.
    • DDo not do anything during your entire forward/return journey which could cause pollution or disturb the environment of the Yatra area.Use of plastics is strictly banned in the State and is punishable under law.

    About Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board


    Of all Hindu deities, Lord Shiva is highly revered and popular amongst the devotees. To pay obeisance to Holy Ice Lingam, the devotees undertake the arduous annual pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine located in Kashmir Himalayas in the months of June-August. The Holy Shrine is managed by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) which was constituted by an Act of Jammu & Kashmir State Legislature in 2000. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K is the Chairman of the Shrine Board..

    The Shrine Board is responsible for better management of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, upgradation of facilities for holy pilgrims and matter connected therewith and incidental thereto. Assisted by a Chief Executive Officer, Additional Chief Executive Officer, and distinguished Board Members, the Board is endeavored towards fulfilling its mandate.
